cocktail ideas for my old man in Malaysia. \u00a0The challenge? \u00a0To create a cocktail involving tropical fruits. \u00a0Apparently the drinks cabinet in Malaysia is not moving very fast and needs to see some use. \u00a0So what&#8217;s in it for you? \u00a0A full cocktail shaker set, the same one I use at home, worth \u00a360. \u00a0The set includes a Boston shaker, hawthorn strainer, bar spoon, bar mat, 4 speed pourers, a bar blade, muddler, 25ml and 50ml measures and ice tongs, as seen here:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cocktailset.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1154\" alt=\"CocktailWin\" src=\"https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cocktailset-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cocktailset-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cocktailset-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cocktailset.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The Rules:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The cocktail must contain at least one Malaysian tropical fruit<\/strong> such as mango, banana, pineapple, coconut, etc (kudos if you can come up with a good Durian cocktail). \u00a0See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malaysia-wildlife-and-nature.com\/fruits-of-malaysia.html\">here<\/a>, if you need a proper list!<\/li>\n<li><strong>The cocktail must contain spirits<\/strong>, such as Vodka or Rum, etc. \u00a0No mocktails or beer based cocktails.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The cocktail must be your own creation<\/strong>. \u00a0No renamed cocktails like a French Martini disguised as a &#8220;Pineapple Martini&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The competition is open to anyone<\/strong> but I can only deliver the prize to the UK Mainland or Malaysia, if you just want the glory feel free to enter. \u00a0The prize can be given away or given to the best runner-up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>One entry per person<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Closing date for entries is <strong>14\/10\/2013<\/strong>. \u00a0Winner will be announced on or around 27th October.<\/li>\n<li>Enter by &#8220;Liking&#8221; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GinNYangCom\">Gin &amp; Yang Facebook page<\/a> and sharing the competition post &#8211; Yes it&#8217;s another shameless plug to build my audience but it&#8217;s not like I&#8217;m the first to do it!. \u00a0Submissions can be made by email (see <a title=\"Contact\" href=\"https:\/\/ginnyang.com\/?page_id=916\">contact page<\/a>) or via Facebook message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Hints:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I will endeavour to get whatever ingredients you use in your cocktail recipe but be sensible, whatever you use must be available in Malaysia so outlandish spirits are going to be difficult to obtain. \u00a0The same goes for spirits by small companies (as good as they are) they are unlikely to be found in Malaysia.<\/li>\n<li>The idea is to use up spirits not buy loads more. \u00a0Vodka, Gin, Rum and Whisky are good choices, Triple Sec is also possible but a bottle of good 100% Agave Cabo Wabo Tequila is unlikely.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve got a duty free allowance of two bottles, so if I get a lot of submissions with one particular drink and it&#8217;s something I don&#8217;t think we can find in Malaysia, I can buy it and bring it with me.<\/li>\n<li>Depending on the number of entries I will take a few recipes with me to Malaysia where they will get the final taste test and judgement by my folks.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t forget local spirits like rice wine or Tapai.<\/li>\n<li>There are also other local ingredients like the things for making bubble tea: tapioca pearls, sago, taro balls &#8211; if you want to include them go ahead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As an example, here&#8217;s a cocktail I have done in the past that Phoebe and her friends seem to love &#8211; The Tropical Fizz:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2 \u00a0Vodka<\/p>\n<p>2 White Rum<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0Triple Sec<\/p>\n<p>1 Peach Schnapps<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 Cherry Liqueur<\/p>\n<p>8 Pineapple Juice<\/p>\n<p>Lemonade<\/p>\n<p>Grenadine<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Shaken over ice, strained and a maraschino cherry dropped in. \u00a0Topped up with Lemonade and finally drizzled with grenadine from a bar spoon &#8211;
